Photo Restoration and Retouching

Photo restoration and retouching is done by computers using photo editing software as well as artistic imput by the restorer. The editing may include cropping, removing scratches, dust and mold, reparing tears, replacing missing pieces, altering backgrounds, and colorizing. For me, the idea of being able to do this is in itself a fascinating concept.
My dad bought me my first camera when I was 10 and I’ve never stopped taking photos. In the past several years, as I’ve learned more about my family genealogy, I’ve also become interested in restoring old family photographs for my own family as well as for others. Being able to restore faded and damaged photos is not only technically satisfying, but the true reward is the amazement and gratification of my customers for whom I have been able to recreate and preserve their pasts.
